Actor and director, director of the festival Les Rencontres du 7e art in Lausanne, Vincent Perez is also a photographer. Born in Lausanne in 1964, he became passionate about photography as a teenager. He attended the Vevey photography school and began his apprenticeship with a professional from Lausanne. Vincent Perez then turned to drama and comedy, playing under the direction of the greatest directors.
In the 1990s, the actor returned to photography on film sets, in the world of dance, in the working class districts of Paris and Russia. He exhibited his portraits at the Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles in 2014, then at the Maison européenne de la photographie de Paris in 2017. The portraits presented at the Swiss Camera Museum are from this latest exhibition. They accompany a presentation of the 100th anniversary of Pentax, a renowned brand of which Vincent Perez is the ambassador. The photographer works with a medium format digital Pentax 645 Z with a 55 mm lens and often an annular flash.
